~ Chiaroscuro ~. If you follow my stories, you saw this morning I set out share a photo in the method of “Chiaroscuro” which is a centuries old painting method which utilizes extreme contrasts of darks and light, to emphasize the subject. If you looked at a histograph, by normal photography standards this photo is poorly exposed, but it’s exactly where I want it. I think I often utilize some elements of this style, but I really loved pushing to an extreme, and I may push these limits more in the future. First time shooting super-wide “under-overs” in what seems like forever. It’s actually not a fisheye lens, but a @venuslaowa Zero-D (distortion) 12mm F2.8 Lens. Basically it’s super-wide, but it’s optically corrected to counteract that distortion that a fisheye provides… I also was testing out a @sonyalpha A7RIII for the first time. This combo is a far departure form my normal combo I bring out in the water (A9 X 70-200 ❤️). While it’s still a high-power combo, putting it to use was a real adjustment, and in that, I found a lot of enjoyment. I force myself into gear changes to help fuel creativity, to force me to see different, react different, prepare different. #logdaze | Summer is set in, and some mornings it's just little shin high rollers, but there's beauty in the details… Check out that curl on the underside!
