The Plant and Algae T-Shirt

Founded by twin brothers athletes Nick and Steve Tidball, Vollebak aims to change the way we produce clothes and their achievements so far, in that field are incredible. Graphene Jacket (using the only material in the world with a Nobel Prize), 100 Year Clothing (designed to outlive you), a Squid Jacked (which mimics the adaptive camouflage of the squid) and Plant and Algae T-Shirt (grown in forests and bioreactors that turns into worm food).

Esquire wrote: β€œVollebak aims to do for outdoor clothing what Tesla did for cars and El Bulli did for food, using science, wit and imagination to create products no-one thought possible.”

Plant and Algae T-Shirt biodegrades in the earth in 12 weeks and turns into wormwood. It is made from wood pulp from sustainably managed forests. Eucalyptus, beech, spruce are chipped and pulped, before being turned into fibre, then yarn and finally fabric.

The print on the t-shirt is made of algae and as it can’t survive once it’s removed from the water, algae changes it’s colour over time.
